Location

The Silver Springs Ranch is situated approximately four miles southwest of Sheridan, MT in the heart of the Ruby Valley. This property combines the comforts of new with the nostalgia of the original ranch. The recently completed 3800+ SF cedar sided home adds the finishing touch to the 20 acres of productive property included with this offering. The original farm house and outbuildings are still very functional and can serve as rental or caretakers complex or perhaps a guest accommodation. Copp Creek meanders through the property and enhances the beauty of the setting as well as functioning as a year round stock water source. The Tobacco Root and Ruby Mountains provide a wonderful back drop to this meadow setting and recreational opportunities abound in the immediate area. Sheridan provides all of the amenities of a small town including restaurants, K-12 school, hospital, grocery store, hardware store, gas station and rural airport in nearby Twin Bridges.

Recreational Opportunities

The Ruby Valley is well known for it’s outdoor recreation including some of the finest big game hunting and blue ribbon fishing in the country. With the Ruby, Big Hole, Beaverhead and Jefferson Rivers right out the back door, any angler is in paradise. The Madison, Tobacco Root, Ruby, Gravelly, Pioneer, McCartney, and Highland Mountain Ranges offer end-less activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, snowmobiling, skiing, four wheeling, horseback riding, and more! Wildlife around the area include elk, whitetail and mule deer, antelope, bighorn sheep, moose, bear, mountain lion, wolf, coyote, and fox.

Community

Though out of town, the Silver Springs Ranch is just minutes from the small town commercial and social amenities of Sheridan. The ranch is conveniently located off W Poppelton Street, a maintained county road, just 4± miles southwest of Sheridan. Sheridan is situated in Southwestern Montana approximately 2½ hours from Yellowstone National Park. Sheridan is an agricultural based community with a population of around 659 people (2000 census pop.). The town offers a variety of commercial, institutional, and social amenities including K-12 school, medical clinic, rest home, bank, motels, restaurants , bars, and churches. A county maintained airport is located approximately 8 miles NW of Sheridan. Commercial air service is available in Butte, about 65 miles north, or in Bozeman, about 85 miles northeast, of Sheridan. These areas also offer expanded commercial, institutional, and social amenities.
Located approximately 20 miles from Sheridan are the historic towns Nevada City and Virginia City. Though preserved as a ghost town, Virginia City is still very much alive and is home to year round locals. Tourists come from all around to see the well preserved old west Victorian gold mining town. Panning for gold and garnets, taking a train ride, watching a show at Opera House or the Brewery Follies, shopping for Old West souvenirs, and touring the historic buildings are just a few of the activities V.C. has to offer.
Nearby secondary education opportunities are located just 38 miles south at the University of Montana—Western in Dillon (2000 census pop. 4000). Montana State University, Montana’s largest university, is approximately 85 miles northeast in Bozeman (2000 census pop. 27,509). Montana Tech specializes in mining and petroleum related engineering and sciences and is located nearby in Butte (2000 census pop. 33,892).

Improvements

The focal point of this property is of course the 4 bedroom 3 bath custom home which was completed in early 2007. This cedar sided two level home features over 3800 SF with attached garage, vaulted ceilings, interior rock accents, laminate floors, huge kitchen, master bedroom with propane stove, jetted tub, walk-in closets, double sinks and floor to ceiling windows through out the home. The windows capture the mountain views in every direction. The home has an additional bonus room which could also serve as another bedroom but is currently used as a craft and sewing room. This home was designed for the family in mind with large computer area, rec room upstairs which can double as a family room and ample storage for all those treasures. The living room has a wood stove which is backed by a rock wall and the dining area has a gas fireplace next to the entry. The breakfast bar is also faced with rock and there are log accents through out the home to give it a western charm. You can enter the mud room and laundry area from the double attached garage which is also insulated and has an automatic overhead door.

There are many functional outbuildings on the ranch including the original homestead, complete with white picket fence. This is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home with approximately 1000 SF and was built in 1920 with several additions and remodels over the years. It has a two car detached garage next to it. There is also a metal quonset building, equipment storage building, calving barn and metal pole barn with working cattle runway and chute. The metal barn has interior stalls, two large sliding doors at each end. This barn would be a perfect setup for a horse barn conversion. The existing corrals have water from a well and also water gap to Copp Creek.
